Mapcut.com

How It Works

Would you rather remember, "google.com" or "209.85.229.99"? If you type either of those into your browser, you'll be taken to google's search page. Domain name registrars like godaddy.com and register.com allow you to get your own easily remembered web URL. Otherwise, you'd have to give people your website's IP address if you wanted them to visit your site.

We don't use IP addresses to deliver our traffic to us, yet we still use physical street addresses to deliver our visitors to us. Does that make any sense?

"SantaHouse" is much easier to remember than, "23567 SW Snow Elf Lane, NW, North Pole, AK 99925."

Am I Right?

Think of Mapcut.com as a registrar for the world map. If someone wants to find you on the map, it allows you to give them an easily remembered word or phrase instead of a latitude and longitude or physical address. Go to google.com and search for "mapcut whitehouse". The result will lead you right to the Mapcut page for the Whitehouse (which is mapcut.com/whitehouse). Search for "Mapcut VerticalPancake1" and you'll see our office's free Mapcut page, listed. (Our premium one is, of course, the word "Mapcut", so google just takes you to our front page for that one.)

We not only provide you an easily remembered word or phrase for every physical address on planet earth but it doesn't even have to be a physical address. You can get an easily word/phrase Mapcut for any SPOT on earth, even if there is no corresponding physical address at that location.

Our long term goal, with your help, is to make the term "Mapcut" a ubiquitous term. Whenever someone wants to know your address, you'll just tell them your Mapcut instead of your address. When this starts to gain traction (iPhone app coming out soon), having a short and personalized Mapcut that you'll keep forever (regardless of where you move to in the future) will become a hot commodity. So, make sure you reserve your favorite word/phrase before someone else gets it. Like "SmithHome" or "IceCream" if you're an ice cream store...etc. Just like the .com domain, we foresee that short Mapcut words and phrases will go quickly. So, don't wait to reserve the one you want. And if you want to sell it in the future, we make it easy to sell and transfer very easily, to the new owner.

So go get your own free Mapcut (or get a premium one and choose your own word or phrase). Then, instead of telling people your full address when you want to give them directions to your house or business (or park, or some rock in the middle of a field), just tell them your Mapcut. (It takes a few days for it to become visible through google search.)
